The Mountain Bike Trails Project at the Tiger's Lair is a great and growing resource.

Most West Georgia mountain bikers know about Windridge ATB Park west of Newnan in Coweta County. On private property, these 8.5 miles of trail are the site of the North Georgia Bicycle Dealers annual Spring and Fall races. Owner Steve Sellen welcomes all riders on weekends for a $3/day fee. The annual membership has 7 day/week privileges.

If you think you're ready, try the Ironlegs Trail at Choccolocco State Park in Alabama. There are several other trails there, too, with much mellower names like 'Gene's Loop'. Choccolocco is north of I-20 just west of the Heflin/Hollis exit. Other Alabama trails are found at Cheaha State Park and at Oak Mountain State Park.

The Old Airport Trails in East Carroll Park, Carrollton are turny, technical, and tricky. They are a great place to practice your technical skills or to play 'follow me' with a friend. Approximately five miles of trails wind through four separate sections of woods. We have maps at the shop, and we'd enjoy guiding you through! Park near the trailhead on either side of Northlake Drive, on the old abandoned runway.

At John Tanner State park there is an easy loop around the lake. The old Storybook Land train runs no more, but Tanners Beach still looks like it did in the fifties. A nice place for a family afternoon.

Road Riding in West Georgia

The Bicycle Georgia website is intended as a starting point and resource for all aspects of Georgia road cycling. The Georgia Bicycle Federation's site provides content especially of interest to transportational cyclists, serious road cyclists, and road cycling advocates, and will appeal to those who actually see the bicycle as more than a toy.

We found some excellent ride descriptions on Dan Estep's Page at Georgia Tech. Dan has a really nice road bike, too. Read all about it!

Our favorite roads are in southwestern Carroll County. We have miles and miles of beautiful rolling hills with little motor traffic and new surfaces. This is country road touring at it's best, and we encourage you to enjoy it. Stop by the shop for maps of several different routes! Come on out and visit - you'll be glad you did.

Carrollton has a designated 'shared lane' from City Hall on Bradley Street down to South Street, along South Street and the South Street Extension to West Georgia Drive. The 'BIKE ROUTE' signs indicate bike use of these streets between downtown and the campus of the University of West Georgia.
